White Jasmine Rice - Organic
White Jasmine Rice - Organic
Rice is the seed of the Oryza grass. The rice plant can grow to 1.8 m! It is the most widely consumed staple food for a large part of the world's human population.
What Is White Jasmine Rice?
Jasmine rice is Thai fragrant rice. The name "Jasmine" refers to the colour of the rice, which is as white as the Jasmine flower. It is moist and soft in texture when cooked, with a slightly sweet flavour. The grains cling and are a little sticky when cooked.
Perfectly cooked Jasmine rice should be slightly sticky, soft and chewy. You should be able to make out the individual grains of rice once it’s cooked. Cooking the rice with too much water will turn the rice mushy as it breaks down the rice’s structure.
Cooking with Jasmine Rice
Rinse thoroughly until the water is clear before cooking to remove starch and ensure it doesn’t clump together after cooking.
Place 1 cup of rice and 1 1/2 cups water in a saucepan, cover and bring the water to boil. Turn the heat down to low and let the rice simmer for another 9 to 10 minutes, until all the water has been absorbed.
Turn off the heat, and leave the saucepan covered for about 10 to 15 minutes. Uncover the saucepan, fluff the rice with a fork and serve.
