British Rye Flakes - Organic
British Rye Flakes - Organic
What Are Rye Flakes?
Native to Turkey, rye is a grass closely related to barley and wheat. The flakes look very similar to oat flakes.
Cooking Rye Flakes
Rye flakes can usually be used in any recipe that calls for rolled or flaked oats - think porridge, muesli, cookies, cakes and bread.
To cook, boil 3 cups of water to the boil and then add 1 cup of rye flakes. Simmer for about 15 minutes and then add your choice of toppings. Nuts, fruit and honey work really well to make a delicious brekkie.
Rye flakes are often mixed with wholegrain flour and seeds to make a hearty artisan bread.
