Prunes (dried plums) have a unique nutrient profile and are suggested to exert beneficial effects on bone health. They are a powerhouse of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals including potassium, iron and retinol, vitamin K and contain beta-carotene. They are also packed with fibre and can help relieve constipation.
Cooking with Prunes
Chop them up and sprinkle them onto your porridge or muesli, add to smoothies or include them in baking – cookies, muffins, bread etc.
Prunes also make a great sauce for white meat – just simmer with some apples and then drizzle over.
