There are hundreds of pasta shapes, each with their own purpose. Short pasta, longpasta, pasta that can be stuffed, pasta for soups - the uses for pasta are endless! There are some shapes and sizes that are better suited for holding sauces in their ridges, while others are better for baked dishes.
Penne means "pen " in Italian and is one of the most popular pasta shapes. It’s large space and ridges make it ideal for retaining sauces.
Pennette is a shorter and thinner version of Penne.
Cooking with Pennette
Add pasta to a large open pan of boiling salted water, simmer for 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally. Drain & serve.
