The coffee beans you brew are actually the processed and roasted seeds from a fruit, which is called a coffee cherry. Even though the coffee beans are seeds, they are referred to as "beans" because of their resemblance to true beans. Coffee trees can grow to more than 9 meters and live up to 100 years!!

El Mirador focus on sustainable chemical free farm practices. Coffee cherry is hand harvested and taken to a local mill where it is sorted and dried.

This particular coffee is a relationship coffee, which means that the roasters and farmers work together to establish a long-term trading partnership, where the farmers receive a fair price that is not vulnerable to commodity market fluctuations. Our roasters openly publish their transparency report, and since 2019, the price that they pay directly to the exporters for this coffee is $4.80 per lb (which doesn't include the cost of transportation to the UK, financing or storage) compared to the world market price, or C market price of $0.95 per lb. Farmers typically receive 70% of this price. This is just one of the reasons that we love working with our roasters.

Now what does it taste like? Well, this has a fruity, juicy flavour including red grape, port and tropical fruits. Why not try some yourself?!

Using these Coffee Beans

The roasters recommend a brew ration of 1:2.5 for an espresso, so grind 18g of these beans, and let it run through the espresso machine until you have 45g / 45ml coffee.

Costa Rican El Mirador Coffee Beans

SKU: CO007
  • Ingredients: Coffee beans

For allergens see ingredients in bold.

Due to the way our food is stored and packaged, this product may contain traces of other allergens due to cross-contamination.

  • Your beans’ greatest enemies are air, moisture, heat, and light.

Store in an air tight container in a dark, cool, dry place. A cabinet near the oven is often too warm, and so is a spot on the kitchen counter that gets strong afternoon sun.

To keep the great flavour, use within 1 month. The coffee will keep for up to 6 months but the flavour won't be as good. See best before date.
