The coffee beans you brew are actually the processed and roasted seeds from a fruit, which is called a coffee cherry. Even though the coffee beans are seeds, they are referred to as "beans" because of their resemblance to true beans. Coffee trees can grow to more than 9 meters and live up to 100 years!!

The coffee cherry is pulped and fermented in tanks for 12 hours. They are then graded in washing channels - the more dense beans will sink and are sold as the higher graded speciality coffee. After grading they are soaked for 6 hours in clean water and then moved to dry out in the sun.

Now what does it taste like? Well, the tasting notes reveal blackcurrant, caramel and stewed apple. Why not try some yourself?!

Using this Ground Coffee

This coffee will be ground to order for espressos.

The roasters recommend a brew ration of 1:2.5 for an espresso, so let 18g of the ground coffee beans run through the espresso machine until you have 45g / 45ml coffee.

For allergens see ingredients in bold.

Due to the way our food is stored and packaged, this product may contain traces of other allergens due to cross-contamination.

  • Your coffee’s greatest enemies are air, moisture, heat, and light.

Store in an air tight container in a dark, cool, dry place. A cabinet near the oven is often too warm, and so is a spot on the kitchen counter that gets strong afternoon sun.

To keep the great flavour, use within 14 days. The coffee will keep for up to 6 months but the flavour won't be as good. See best before date.
